Matrix Professional Video Systems

Sony HD Recording Media Online Technology Seminars

UPDATE: February 5, 2009

Sony is holding some media seminars as detailed in the invitation below.  These seminars are designed to educate production pros transitioning into digital cinematography on HD media technology.

Media Seminar

Thanks to the exceedingly positive response from past participants we are proud to announce the third year of our online technology seminars. Log on and learn how innovations in recording media have enabled significant advances in today’s digital acquisition systems. We are pleased to announce the following two seminars:

HD Tape Media in Perspective (Seminar 214)

This seminar will include an overview of the wide range of Sony professional HD tape formats and their respective recording media currently used in broadcast, production and e-cinematography including HDCAM SR®, HDCAM™ and HDV. Learn how continuing advancements in compression technology have enabled longer record times and how the proliferation of formats that record at vastly different transfer rates and color sampling rates differ.

Optical Disc, Hard Disk Drive, Flash Memory…at the Forefront of Acquisition (Seminar 215)

With each release of a new format for digital capture comes the requirement for removable media to store that content. The expectation for faster transfer speeds and higher storage capacities has challenged recording media manufacturers to develop technologies to meet this requirement at a viable price point. This session will focus on optical disc, flash (solid-state) memory, and hard disk drives including Professional Disc™, CompactFlash™, SxS PRO™ Memory Card, Hard Disk Drive, as the enabling technologies used with XDCAM® HD, HDV, and XDCAM EX formats.
